About

Lorsen calls attention to the beauty and value he sees in disregarded things. He works with mixed media, “low art” forms, photography and installation taking found objects, charity shops finds, things with no apparent value, and re-presents or reinvents these things encouraging their reappraisal.

Lorsen’s artwork has featured in group shows and selected exhibitions including the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition in 2018. He won the Leamington Open in 2019 leading to a Spotlight Show at the Gallery & Museum. In 2021 he was commissioned for the Artspace Artist on my Street project and later that year was Engagement Artist for The Show Windows: Reflections exhibition in Coventry City centre. Lorsen was named a winner of the Worcester Open: Climate Change Edition in 2023. He was Artist-in-Residence at the Mead Gallery, Coventry during their 2023 show The Reason for Painting.

As a curator Lorsen has worked on eight different projects including exhibitions with the Mead Gallery and the Herbert Art Gallery in Coventry. His curatorial practice is driven by a desire to promote inclusivity and engagement with art - using alternative exhibition spaces such as sheds, shops, garages, even garden walls.

Lorsen lives and works in Coventry, UK.
